Bayou Bend: Cosmic Illusion #26

Salli McQuaid, #26: Bayou Bend, 23-1/2”w x 25-1/2”h, 2008.

Artist's Statement

Texas has the God-given honor of harboring the most varieties of birds in the United States. In Houston, there is an historical area called Bayou Bend, just acquired by the Houston Museum of Fine Art for preservation and restoration, retreats, and special events. In this lovely spot on the edge of a huge city, I can just imagine the Cecelia, Patron Saint of Music, appearing at dawn to meditate and accompany the birds. Bayou Bend depicts this imaginary vision.
