On a visit to Arcata, California, we visited Trinidad Beach, watching the sun disappear and the stars appear. Viewing the powerful northern California Pacific Ocean and the wild, tangled foliage from the cliffs above was a transcendental experience. I wanted to be “beached” there forever. Since this was impossible, I created Beached! to capture that unforgettable moment in time.

Note: Although the center, top image looks like one piece of fabric, it is actually composed of 17 pieces of fabric appliqued together.
