Artist’s Statement
Jewel
uses a duel perspective created by the hues of the diamonds. You glance at the
composition, and the girl appears to be on a stage. At next glance, she appears
to be against the back wall of the stage. The Chinese girl sparkles like a
jewel, the facets of the stage remind me of a jewel, and the curtains are
decorated with jewels, so I titled the quilt Jewel.
