Artist’s Statement
I kept looking at a small
scrap of pieced fabric that I had cut out of one of my larger
quilts and pinned to the design board. I loved its two fabrics
and their shapes. One day I thought, this is my chance to make a
5”x 7” quilt, the smallest I had ever attempted. After adding
other pieces of fabric, stitches, and some gold gilding, the
quilt was finished. During the creative process, I discovered I
was portraying Christ’s ascension to heaven, which was in the
Spring. So I titled it Springrise.
