Five kimonos help make up the large, overall kimono. Four are blocks; the fifth, center, is my original derivative kimono.

There were two times when I just wanted to abandon making Kimono Wedding entirely because I thought it was so ugly, but  I am glad I persevered.

Collection of Colleen Wiley-Doran, and Jonnie Doran (UK)

Because I love Asian things, I wanted to make a Japanese piece. I read several books on the subject, and this is the result.

When making Kimono Wedding, I employed machine embroidery, long-arm pantographing, applique, gilting,  and piecing. Much of the imagery suggests traditional Japanese symbolism.
