Her topography comprises the Gulf, bayous, the Piney Woods, hill country, deserts, mesas, and vast flatlands. The armadillo is our State animal and the blue bonnet the State flower. | In Houston, buildings loom tall, like talismans against the sky. Such Texas imagery is contained in Our Lady, as is the Holy Mother, who is holding a horse. The horse is an important icon of Texas culture; and here, I believe the Holy Mother holds a special place for the horse in her heart. |
